we are pleased to share with you that the Undergraduate Degree program
anticipates graduating 321 students! Our graduate degree programs
anticipate graduating 74 students. Combined, these students represented
30 majors that the University of Dubuque offers. The undergraduate class
represents 23 states and 4 countries. The graduate class represents
four states and five countries.
The seminary will graduate 40 students this spring! Thirty-three students will graduate with their Residential and Distance
Master of Divinity. Four students will graduate with their Doctor of
Ministry. Three students will be graduating with a Master of Arts in

Third Annual Leadership Council dinner was held on March 14 to honor
donors who have made contributions of $1,000 or more to any program or
project from January 1 to December 31, 2012.

guests. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Dr. R. Edward
Thompson, of Thompson & Associates, and about how his life has been
impacted by gifts made by generous donors. Dr. Jeffrey Bullock gave an
update on academic improvements, and the groundbreaking on additional
student housing taking place this summer.
In Memory of Frank Farber Frank Farber Tennis Courts David Dendy, VP for Philanthropy
fellow tennis enthusiast and player I would like to share that the UD
community was saddened by the loss of Frank Farber on March 9, 2013.
"Frank Farber Tennis Courts" were dedicated on September 1, 1990. Frank
and his wife Sylvia (Sylvia's Common Ground) leave a wonderful legacy
to the University of Dubuque with their generosity and heritage.
UD Provided Engaging Learning Mark Ward, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College
is committed to providing a quality educational experience for
undergraduate students. One way of measuring the quality of this
experience is through the National Survey of Student Engagement, or
NSSE. NSSE is a national survey that asks students about the amount of time and effort they put into their studies and how their institution has involved them in what activities that research studies show are linked to student learning. NSSE results are organized into five benchmarks of effective educational practice.
