University of Dubuque Golf Outing History

History

For two decades the University of Dubuque has worked with Dodds’ family members and friends to conduct an annual golf outing in memory of David J. Dodds, a UD aviation alum, who died in a tragic airplane crash.  This golf outing was solemnly organized by family and friends of David as a way to preserve his memory and passion to help other young men and women pursue their dream of flying.  Participation has grown from a small group of family and friends to a premier golf outing that attracts a full field of corporations, alumni and friends.

As a result of these efforts, more than $30,000 has been placed in a permanent endowment with the Galena Foundation and 31 Aviation students have received Dodds Scholarships

The 23rd Annual University of Dubuque Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club (www.dubuquegolf.org). Traditionally, proceeds from this event were used solely to provide scholarships for aviation students at the University to help them realize their dream of a career in flying.  Due to the success of this event, in addition to the Dodds scholarships for aviation majors, proceeds now also help contribute funding for athletic programs at the University of Dubuque.

We hope you will consider joining us in support of this truly stellar event. If you would like more information about the golf outing, would like to become involved or have any questions please contact the Alumni Office at 1-800-483-2586 or locally at 563-589-3705.
